These drawings grapple with the tragic act of suicide bombing - both its terrible violence and the actor's desire to achieve a greater purpose through that violence. In this series, birds represent that juxtaposition. The byproduct of the bomber's act are birds that prey, vultures, who feed on the death and destruction and birds that disperse, like smoke, leaving behind the possibility of rebirth. The graphic imagery is drawn by hand in soft graphite to create a rich black.
